RE: Wayward kids wandering into campsite

People in general just don't have common sense any more.
We were parked in our RV at a casino parking lot- designated for RVs.
Another RV pulls up next to us about 15ft away, then their friend comes and parks his pickup between the two of us. The parking lot was totally empty, by the way.
We had about 4 ft to move around.
I just ended up packing everything up and moving further away.:R

RE: Vitamin and other supplements- should you take them ?

My doc discourages multi-vitamins, too. I DO take a milk thistle with doctor's blessings. It helps regenerate the liver and I had a liver problem.
I will agree with this...

RE: What’s with the smudge pots? (Rant)

I have tried not wade into this topic but I must.
The better half and I spent two weeks in Penticton BC about a month ago.
The weather was awefull when we arrived so, we spent the first night at a hotel and decided to look for a campground the next day.
We spent the better part of the next day looking at a lot of campgrounds until we found one that allowed fires.
Most didn't and most of the ones that didn't we much nicer than the 2 we found that did.
I refuse to camp without a fire. If I wanted to sit outside in the dark or inside watching tv or doing whatever, then I would stay home.
Most people.. no... all people I know and have spoken to are very considerate when talked to.
If you want to know why someone is having a smokey fire during the day.. ask.
If you have problems with fires... please stay away from campgrounds that allow them.
I have not seen one person on this thread argue in favour of stinky plastic/paint/garbage/gasoline burning fires.
I have yet to see anyone in this thread say they started a huge fire and left it unnatended or defended such behaviour.
I have yet to see anyone on this thread who would not be reasonable if asked to not chop wood near their camper.
I suppose what I am trying to say is... If you have a problem with someone... TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT! do not come here and whine.
Bruce.

Potato peelings are rich in vitamin B6 and B12-antioxidents.
And they taste really good fried in bacon fat. :B

RE: Taking two truck spaces at Flying J

if the OP didn't think in at least some small part that what she did was wrong then she wouldn't have asked.
Therefore... All opinions yay or nay are valid.
My opinion is that what she did was rude at best and dangerous.
If your MH/Trailer/ whatever cannot be used without the slides out and you intend to travel late at night... you made a poor purchase.
Simple as that.
Poor planning.. Poor decisions and poor taste.

Camping alone (not to be confused with the other topic)

The weather this weekend where I live is supposed to be excellent and this may be one of the last times I get a chance to get out and camp.
I had asked my mother (who is 65) if she wanted to go camping this weekend (I asked her because she had expressed an interest in camping and I told her I would take her sometime) but, she said it was too hot.
I asked my Other half if she wanted to go but... she does not either (not a huge fan of tenting, our class B is not ready yet to go camping and she does have lots of yardwork she wants to get done).
So, my question is... How many of you go tenting alone?
I am not afraid or anything but I am a bit worried I will keep thinking about not having anyone to share the fun with while I am doing it.
I don't plan on going far, It will just be from friday till sunday.
Mostly I will just be sitting around the fire at night with several beers... (the most relaxing thing in the world to me(well... second most relaxing thing:W))

do you think i am crazy for even thinking about doing this as a single mom.I think you would be crazy not to go. What a lucky boy! My guess is he will remember the trip forever.
I agree.
You will no doubt encounter challenges that you didn't expect and get through them. It will be an awesome time!
Come back and yell at me if you do it and regret it. I'm pretty sure you will not be yelling at me...:W

RE: Bruce National Park

We have reservations at Cypress Lake next week. Has anyone ever stayed there? Just wondering what the sites are like. Ours is specifically for a tent trailer, described as "small" but says you can also have 2 tents/shelters on the site. There was nowhere in the online booking process that listed the dimensions of the sites like on the Ontario Provinical Park booking engine. Do they have nonreservable sites there? There was a specific site that I wanted to reserve but on booking day it was blocked out for the entire season so I'm wondering if it is "out of service" so to speak for this year for regeneration or if it is a nonreservable site.
Never been there and cannot answer your question but, It is an excellent name for a park.
Sincerely, Bruce.

RE: Crossing into Canada Next Week

mister_d
Forget about bringing your beer over the line, ours is much better. Bring your quota of Liquor you'll make up the difference on our high beer prices. :B
BTC
I thought I read a case of beer over there runs about $35. Over here I can get a case of Labatt for about $18 after bottle deposit. Is the beer $17 x 2 cases = $34 better?
BTW, I'll be bringing the biggest bottle of Captain I'm allowed(:
TAXES…
If the price of Booze up here scares you wait until you buy some Fuel ……….
It always gets me why people will ensure they can get by with the cheapest of anything including camping at Wally World while in Canada then in the next thread someone will complain about they roads are un- paved or in very poor shape, the best one was the toilet paper was empty in the Out House near Banff.....:h
A good deal of the High Prices of Booze and Fuel is tax…Provincial and Federal Tax
I also look to save as much money as possible in these days of inflated prices, however if everyone that is passing through to Alaska, or just making a short trip into Canada doesn’t purchase anything, who is left to pay for the improvements to our roads, campground, Federal and or Provincial as well as our Parks…. I guess guys like me that live up here year round.
TAXES….Thats why you pay more, just like the rest of us north of 49.…….....................and our Booze up here is better… hicK-uP...:B
Thanks I had to vent… now I will go pay my over due Property Taxes….. of $3000.00.............:S
Soup
Hey Soup, you're loony if you think we won't be dropping a load of loonies (ha I made a funny) while we're in your backyard. In fact, I plan on grocery shopping less than 10 minutes off the bridge. I know you were generalizing, understand your point, and can even relate a bit. There are quite a few Canadians driving over the river and through the Michigan woods without stopping to buy anything on their way to other parts of the US:W BTW, 2 cases of beer will definitely not be enough (yes damnit I'm the one sitting by the fire late at night drinking) so I plan on buying some of the "good stuff" too!
No sir, you are the OTHER one sitting by the fire late at night drinking.
I could sit by the fire beer in hand till morning comes (or I run out of firewood). The most relaxing thing in the world to me...

RE: Crossing into Canada Next Week

The last time my wife and I crossed the boarder going to Florida we stopped at the duty free to buy beer. I always thought there was a two case limit. They had beer was on sale 3 cases for whatever.I asked how many cases can I take across the boarder. The answer was " You can take as many cases as you can consume in the time you are away." I took three cases and headed south. Hugh
so... you were only planning on being away for a day?;)

RE: A Tear Drop for $18.5K????

For $2k less, we bought our 28ft Cherokee new in 05!
I`m sure it`s nice and all and alot of attention to detail was paid, but sorry, not $18.5k.
What most of you are missing is that 20 years from now.. his trailer will still be valuable and maybe worth 10 grand or so as a collectible..
What will your new now 20 grand trailer be worth at that time? (if it is still even road worthy)
Heck... even ten years from now.. what will your trailer be worth?
Don`t know, don`t care, I`ll be sitting comfortably on my couch watching my DVD`s in surround sound in air conditioned comfort. I bought my RV to use not to try and sell for way more than it`ll be worth! and the way I take care of my stuff, if I don`t sell it, it will be around along time. probably longer than most tear drops.
Nice attitude... you don't care nor know...
I will be sitting in my house watching DVD's in the same comfort... but at home..
I do not pretend to camp.
ack... ok.. I did not mean to be rude and rude that was...
lets just all have different opinions and agree we all like to camp(or live somewhat outdoors)
be it an rv park or primitive site.

Wow! nice pits and sir... that is a nice pic... makes me feel sad being at home.
as my better half often tells me "you are never more happy than sitting next to a fire"
A nice campfire takes my mind away from the worries of the world.
